How Town Film Productions, LLC

How Town Film Productions, LLC

Chris, the majority owner of How Town Films, is the Producer and Executive Producer of a full-length feature film entitled, "LUCKY", due for world-wide release in 2012. The movie portrays a 10 year-old South African boy named Lucky, who is forced to leave the familiarity of his Zulu village to go to the big city.  He tries to stay with an uncle who does not care for him, so he attempts to befriend an elderly Indian woman with an inherent fear of Africans.  She slowly grows fond of Lucky, and together they develop an unlikely bond, which leads to a potentially promising and unexpected future.

Through an odyssey marked by greed, violence, and, ultimately, belonging, LUCKY shows how a child’s spirit can bring out decency, humility and even love in adults struggling to survive in the new South Africa.

LUCKY is graced with stunning, beautiful cinematography, and is ultimately a touching story of hopes, dreams, misconceptions and parental love. During a November 2010 test screening in Rochester, 93% of respondents rated the movie as excellent or very good, and 89% said they would likely recommend this film to friends.

LUCKY has screened at nearly a dozen international film festivals in 2011 and 2012, including the Toronto International Film Festival, the Atlantic Film Festival in Halifax, Busan, South Korea, Palm Springs, Santa Barbara, Boulder, Colorado, and Hong Kong, to name but a few. LUCKY won the Best Actress Award in Abu Dhabi, and garnered the Best Film Award in Bangalore, India. Learn more
